Making Chicken Caesar Salad in a Wooden Bowl

The best culinary creations can come from unexpected circumstances. It was a day like any other when I had a craving for some crisp, tangy coleslaw. Excitedly, I opened the fridge to find romaine lettuce, leftover roasted chicken breast, and two-day-old bread. Not a traditional base for coleslaw, but it sparked an idea in me. How about turning these leftover ingredients into a delicious Caesar salad?

Ingredients:

1 cup or 150-gram roasted chicken breast, diced
4 cups romaine lettuce, washed and torn into bite-sized pieces
1 boiled egg, minced
2 tablespoons cup grated Parmesan cheese or as you like :)

Crouton:
1 cup bread, diced
1 small garlic, crushed
Olive oil, salt, and black pepper

Dressing:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

How to make:

  1. Begin by assembling the main ingredients in an 8-inch wooden bowl. Combine the succulent roasted chicken breast on romaine lettuce, then put minced boiled egg.
  2. For the crouton: in a large wooden bowl, drizzle the bread evenly with the oil, crushed garlic, and seasonings. Then toss until evenly combined. Turn the croutons onto a parchment-covered baking sheet, and spread out in a single layer. Bake until crispy and brown. Do not forget to flip the croutons once halfway through baking. Sprinkle the croutons and Parmesan cheese over the romaine lettuce in the wooden bowl.
  3. For the dressing, stir all the ingredients until well blended and smooth. Set aside in a smaller wooden bowl. One of my tips for eating low-calorie salads is not to mix the dressing into the salad.
  4. Caesar salad with roasted chicken is ready to serve and match with the wooden utensils!

This recipe is perfect for one person. With a wooden bowl and a dash of creativity, transform leftover ingredients into healthy dishes. Bon appétit! :) Ah, but I still want some coleslaw!
